What is Breast Enlargement with Uplift?

A Breast Enlargement increases the volume of your breasts by inserting an Implant and a Breast Uplift, known as a Mastopexy tightens your bust, moving the nipple upwards to a symmetrical position.

Why choose Enlargement with Uplift?

There are many reasons for choosing to have a Breast Uplift with Implants. Some of the benefits include:

  • Increased body confidence

  • Feeling better in certain types of clothing such as underwear or swimwear

  • Having breasts that you feel ‘fit’ with your body shape

Mr Khan will listen to your hopes and expectations from having this surgery. This helps Mr Khan get an idea of what result you are looking to achieve. As this is a combined procedure of a Breast Enlargement and a Breast Uplift (Mastopexy) it is slightly more complex than a normal procedure.

Is a Breast Enlargement with Uplift right for you?

This depends on the position of your nipple compared to the fold underneath your breast. As a general rule, if your nipple lies at the level of the fold under your breast (or below this) and you have a loss of volume in the upper part of your breast, then you may be suitable for this combined surgery. This is because a Breast Enlargement alone in people who have a low nipple position can result in large but droopy breasts rather than more youthful looking breasts. In some cases, a slightly low nipple position can be corrected by inserting an implant alone. All of the options available to you, will be discussed during your consultation with Mr Khan.

What to expect

The surgery is usually performed under a general anaesthetic with a 1 night stay in hospital. During the operation, Mr Khan will place an implant under your breast tissue or breast muscle to restore the volume to your skin and tighten the lower part of your breast and elevate your nipple position.

Some surgeons favour a 2-stage procedure, performing a Breast Uplift (Mastopexy) on the first operation. They then perform a subsequent Breast Enlargement. The advantage of this approach is that the incisions following the Mastopexy may heal slightly better as they are not under tension. It also gives the surgeon opportunity to correct any breast abnormality at the second procedure. Many people, however, prefer to have the procedure performed in one operation which will be discussed with Mr Khan to see what is best suited for you.

Recovery after Breast Enlargement with Uplift Surgery

As this surgery is a combination of two procedures: Breast Enlargement and Breast Uplift (Mastopexy), the side effects and recovery period are similar to a Breast Enlargement procedure regarding breast tenderness and discomfort. However, there is slightly more scarring involved in this combined surgery than in a straightforward Breast Enlargement. You will find that initially the scarring will be red and slightly raised from the normal skin. In most people, the scars will slowly settle in the months following surgery to a pale silver colour and will be well concealed under any underwear or swimwear.

Following surgery, your bust will change naturally with gravity. Mr Khan would not recommend that you either increase or decrease your weight considerably or become pregnant following the procedure. Pregnancy and weight changes can significantly alter the volume of the bust and alter its dimensions.

As a guide, it will take between 6 and 8 weeks to be back to full fitness. We encourage you to wear a support bra during this period to support your breasts while they are healing. Mr Khan will also likely use dissoluble  sutures for the incisions which may need to be trimmed one week following surgery.
